Whether herbs are useful for healing is a subject of much argument. Herbal practitioners accept that natural cures do work but the medical community tends to believe otherwise except where scientific studies support the claims. Factually herbs have been utilized for healing purposes through time with much success. Well before there were doctors, shamans, smart women, American Indians, and other healers used herbs to treat many different conditions. Many Native American medication men say they learned about the healing power of herbs by noting their effects on animals which analysts still do today.

Doctors stress a good, balanced diet as useful to forestall and possibily treat illness. If todays foods contain minerals and vitamins then perhaps we shouldn't discredit the usage of herbs. Many medications used today are derived from herbs and many diet gurus recommend a mostly animal product free diet. Many other nationalities use herbal treatments regularly. Nowadays doctors are much more open to research and suggestions that some herbal preparations are valuable in treating disease.
